Study: GPT-4o Boosts Grades, But AI Assistance Risks Long-Term Learning Harm

An experiment with 1,053 Bocconi University students shows that GPT-4o boosted marketing assignment grades by nearly a full point on a five-point scale. However, actual learning retention was not tested. Other studies suggest that AI-assisted performance without independent thinking may cause long-term harm to learning.
