AI shifts definition of a "good engineer" towards judgment

As AI makes generating code trivial, the value of engineering is shifting. While code production becomes cheaper, the ability to make sound technical decisions—choosing the right solution, anticipating edge cases, and assessing long-term trade-offs—remains scarce. The author argues that engineering judgment will become increasingly valuable as AI improves.
