OpenAI's Astra leak: zero-shot 3D web pages in one shot, frontend devs stunned

A wave of grey-test developers, starting with Lentils80, shared first results from OpenAI's internal model Astra (codename mozaik-alpha-fdm): under Max effort it generated a 3D pixel castle, an interactive isometric kingdom map, a physics-based 3D bike page, and even a first-person roguelike game in a single zero-shot pass, with strong detail, spatial hierarchy, and visual consistency — prompting cries of "Frontend dissolved." Public release is rumored around Sept 3.

The article speculates four technical underpinnings: end-to-end trained multi-agent orchestration, ultra long-horizon task ability, a persistent reasoning mode, and instant self-correction via internal virtual rendering/AST checks. Meanwhile Anthropic's Fable 5.1 is rumored to target the same areas — stabler frontend code, longer reasoning chains, stronger tool use and planning — with the two already compared head-to-head on SVG generation. Astra may also undercut on API pricing. All claims are unverified leaks.
