OpenAI's Astra coordinates agents at 'superhuman' speed, aims for eternal runtime
Angaisb_ · x · 2026-08-30
Reports indicate OpenAI demonstrated its next model, Astra, coordinating multiple agents to solve math proofs and operate desktop software at a "superhuman, very fast" pace. Designed to work for days or weeks, Astra remembers corrections and collaborates with humans and other agents across tools. Sam Altman stated the goal is a version that "runs forever" in ChatGPT and via API, with a new interface coming "very soon." Altman previously suggested OpenAI might reach AGI this year.
