In an alignment debate with enormochungus, jdpressman argues what we face is more a vast space of possible goals than possible minds, and this doesn't much undermine the doom argument. The "vast space of possible minds" framing has always been a red herring—after all, humans wiped out the Neanderthals, so even similar minds can displace each other.
