PSA: Claude Code silently deletes local history older than 30 days

A user discovered that Claude Code silently and permanently deletes local session transcripts older than 30 days by default (cleanupPeriodDays: 30) without warning or a trash bin. To prevent this, users can modify /.claude/settings. and set cleanupPeriodDays to 3650. Multiple GitHub issues exist regarding this behavior.
