Non-technical operators using LLMs are taking jobs that once needed ML teams
brandon_galang · x · 2026-08-30
The author argues that self-described "non-technical operators" already using AI at work are great fits for applied AI roles. A class of problems that once required a dedicated ML team can now be solved by domain experts deploying LLMs at scale — and ML engineers don't understand your domain problems, while you do. The fundamentals needed are business-logic reasoning at scale (e.g. DSPy) plus basic data engineering. If you're already outpacing peers with AI, a bigger role may have your name on it.
