SaaS Platforms Face Three Risks in the Agent Era

As workloads shift to agents, existing SaaS platforms face three major risks:
- Architectural Mismatch: Software becomes infrastructure for agents, requiring new architectures and business models. Incumbents, often run by marketing rather than infra people, aren't evolving their offerings fast enough.
- The Wedge: If existing platforms fail to provide this infrastructure, the agent layer above will create it, relegating current platforms to irrelevance. The lack of progress by incumbents here is worrying.
- Stagnation Risk: The agent layer is evolving fast while customers move slow. This creates a risk where innovation happens off-platform, leaving existing SaaS blind to the requirements needed for real agent workloads.
