Publishing to the Claude Connector Directory: 60 signups in 2 days, 3 sales, then the discoverability cliff
kkomelin · reddit · 2026-08-30
After migrating PreVibe's MCP server from custom API keys to OAuth, the author submitted it to the Claude Directory and shared the full experience:
- Process: a couple of hours preparing with Claude, adding required tool descriptors like "Destructive" and "Read-only," then automatic approval within minutes as a Community connector.
- Numbers: 60 site registrations in the first 2 days (half connected the MCP), 10 ran research at least once, 3 bought credit packs. New registrations dropped sharply after two days — likely pushed down a "new connectors" list.
- Mitigation: submitted to the official MCP registry plus several free directories, most of which add rel=nofollow until you pay.
- Costs: keeping the Team plan costs $50/mo and hasn't broken even yet, but some users paid right after trying the service.
