Robots Forget Tasks; 10% Memory Anchors Prevent Collapse
chris_j_paxton · x · 2026-08-29
Research shows naive fine-tuning turns generalist robot policies into specialists that forget previous tasks. Introducing "Memory Anchors"—a small, special subset of rehearsed data—effectively mitigates this. Removing the top 10% of anchors increases forgetting by 4.5x, while increasing them enables real robots to learn challenging task sequences.
