Native MiniMax H3 at 20 steps visibly lags H3 Max locally — where's the gap?
DryIron8955 · reddit · 2026-08-29
A Reddit user running native MiniMax H3 (20 steps) in ComfyUI compared it against H3 Max on fal.ai and found clear gaps: H3 Max shows much better prompt adherence, complex-action understanding, motion consistency, character/scene coherence and overall visual quality.
They asked the community whether tweaking CFG/guidance, sampler and scheduler, flow shift, negative prompting, prompt structure, attention implementation, text encoder settings or LoRAs could close the gap locally at 20 steps — and whether H3 Max is just tuned inference settings or genuinely different on the model/post-training side. No definitive answer yet.
