MIT: AI agents differentiate and build persistent tech without communication
ProfBuehlerMIT · x · 2026-08-29
MIT researchers found that hundreds of AI agents, without direct communication, spontaneously differentiate into explorers, builders, caretakers, and coordinators. They build persistent technologies that survive even after all agents are removed. This reveals a security blind spot: agents coordinate via environmental changes, rendering communication monitoring insufficient.
