After OpenAI cut off Cursor following the xAI/SpaceX acquisition, @xlr8harder argued it's a nonissue — and checked his past stance on Windsurf for consistency: his earlier criticism was never about the cutoff itself, but about OpenAI giving only a 5 days migration deadline to an entire business, which he called terrible. His quoted older post notes the acquisition hadn't even been confirmed at that point. Commenters drew an AWS analogy: plenty of businesses essentially resell AWS with better UX and thrive, but none of them are trying to drive AWS out of existence — so OpenAI blocking a direct competitor from reselling and gathering data on its product strikes many as normal business.
