OpenAI ends partnership with Cursor; users prefer Claude Code experience
haider1 · x · 2026-08-29
OpenAI announced it is ending its partnership with Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX, revoking direct model access. Developer comparisons indicate that while Cursor uses the same Claude models, the official Claude Code offers a significantly better reasoning experience. Additionally, feedback suggests Cursor's Opus 5 performs poorly and Fable 5 is prohibitively expensive.
