OpenAI organizational expansion
OpenAI hired Sandhya Devanathan, former VP for India & Southeast Asia at Meta, as the new head of Southeast Asia & Australia. Based in Singapore, she will oversee consumer growth and enterprise expansion starting in October.
Cloud infrastructure and optimization
Alibaba Cloud launched its Brazil region with two availability zones, offering computing and storage services. Sugon released the ParaCache token acceleration solution, using domestic technology to optimize inference on its 100,000-GPU cluster, significantly reducing migration costs.
Funding moves
SoftBank is seeking a $10 billion loan to refinance OpenAI-related debt, with an interest rate 275 bps over SOFR, part of which will repay a $40 billion bridge loan maturing soon.
