EA's Iron Man trailer leaker exposed by forensic watermark burned into footage

The person who leaked EA's Iron Man trailer stamped their own name into the evidence: the ID USER #110ST937592XYZ402 is burned into the footage, and even cropped copies still show the string twice.
The author explains this is a forensic watermark: studios circulate sensitive builds where each recipient gets a unique identifier rendered at multiple positions, sometimes with an invisible second layer in the pixel data — surviving cropping, compression, screen filming and filters. The footage came from an August 2026 internal test cut reaching only a few dozen people, so EA's investigation is essentially one database lookup. The Pokemon Company ran the same play in 2021.
