Vercel open-sources vgpu for unified WebGPU rendering in browser and Node
evilrabbit_ · x · 2026-08-29
Vercel has open-sourced vgpu, a WebGPU library enabling the same shader code to run in both browsers and headless Node environments. The author demonstrated a fluid simulation solver showcasing pressure projection and pigment mixing. Notably, the rendered video was generated directly via vgpu/node using the identical WGSL code rather than screen recording. The CLI tools are also designed to be agent-readable, featuring example pulling and environment self-check capabilities.
