Google releases AI models for agriculture, covering 140M hectares with satellite imagery

Google DeepMind's AnthroKrishi team launched two satellite-based AI models: ALU maps farm boundaries and water bodies with 15 years of historical data, while AMED uses multispectral data to monitor crops and identify 11 major types. The tech is deployed at scale, serving 5M+ farmers in Telangana, covering 140M+ hectares via Terrastack, and is used by CarbonFarm across 12 countries and the FAO.
