Neuralink patient draws and writes 20 years after paralysis

Paralysis patient Audrey Crews regained the ability to write and draw after 20 years, aided by a Neuralink implant. Unlike traditional assistive devices that rely on interpretation, the BCI reads motor cortex intent directly, eliminating lag and enabling smooth curve drawing (8-10 bits/sec). Data shows patients typing at 40 WPM with no serious adverse events. With increasing electrode counts and speech decoding targets, the technology is moving from assisted communication to normal conversation.
