Ollama launches Claude integration to run local models in Claude Desktop
dr_cintas · x · 2026-08-29
Ollama has launched a feature allowing users to run local or cloud-based models directly within Claude Desktop. Users can enable this by toggling the Claude switch in the Ollama Apps settings, selecting a model, and restarting the app. The integration ensures privacy by disabling telemetry by default and adhering to a Zero Data Retention policy. If the model picker is empty, users can manually point Claude Desktop's third-party inference to Ollama's default port.
