Proposal: What if an embodied AI developed continuously for decades?
Stunning-Chipmunk243 · reddit · 2026-08-29
An outsider proposes a long-term experiment: instead of creating new agents, preserve the developmental continuity of one embodied AI over decades.
The goal isn't to prove consciousness directly, but to allow an agent to accumulate persistent autobiographical memories and an evolving self-model as its hardware and architecture are upgraded.
A control group of newly initialized agents with contemporary tech would help distinguish properties from technological advancement versus those from long-term individual experience, covering aspects like identity, preference stability, and metacognition.
