Zai Releases Open-Weight GLM-5.3 Coding Model Amid Safety Criticism

Zai announced that GLM-5.3, their most capable model for agentic coding and cyber defense, is now available as open weights.
However, researcher NathanCalvin criticized the release, noting the absence of a model card, safety testing, and third-party evals. He argued that while a safety case could be made for releasing such a capable model (balancing cyber defense vs. offense), they didn't even bother to try to make one.
