VR Pro Controllers vs. Default: World Space SLAM vs. IR Tracking
Darpinian · x · 2026-08-28
The author compares the tracking tech of default and Pro VR controllers. Default controllers stack two error sources: headset SLAM and IR tracking from headset to controllers. Pro controllers perform world space SLAM directly, featuring 3 cameras each compared to the headset's 4. While not measuring accuracy directly, the author finds them subjectively good for teleoperation. Note that tracking performance degrades in low light for both.
