Study Reveals Unique Positional and Name Biases in LLMs

A new study indicates that LLMs exhibit unique biases beyond reproducing human ones. When choosing among similarly high-quality alternatives, models tend to favor the first option. If the alternatives are of lower quality, the bias shifts to favor later options. Some models, like Claude 3 Haiku, also displayed unexpected name biases.
