Nothing stops METR time horizons from hitting infinity in finite time, says Toby Ord

Oxford philosopher Toby Ord argues nothing fundamental prevents METR time horizons from going to infinity in finite time. This wouldn't mean completing infinite work — just that from some year on, arbitrarily long tasks of a certain kind would eventually succeed given enough time, i.e. near-100% reliability on a family of somewhat rote engineering tasks.
