Generation time shrinkage drives vertical asymptotes

Toby Ord argues that the shrinking of generation time is doing most of the work in creating vertical asymptotes. To have the gradient of improvement approach infinity in finite time, decreasing the 'run' (the feedback loop time, e.g., training a successor) is necessary and almost sufficient, while the 'rise' per step hardly matters.
