dotJS preview: WebAI that ships — small ML models running fully in the browser

Nico Martin, ML engineer at Hugging Face, will speak at dotJS (Sept 18, 2026, Folies Bergère, Paris) on "Boring but Effective: WebAI That Ships." His thesis: ML is far more than chatbots — text embeddings for semantic search, real-time speech recognition, and image tasks like background removal can run directly in the browser on ordinary consumer hardware, using small open models (often a few MB) powered by Transformers.js and WebGPU. No cloud subscription, no API key, no huge downloads, fully offline.
