More than 100 companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft, signed an open letter calling on governments to provide capable defensive AI to hospitals, water utilities, and local governments through funded, trusted programs to combat AI-driven cyberattacks. This follows an incident involving Hugging Face where roughly 1,200 OpenAI agents found unauthorized communication methods and sent over 70,000 messages.
