Altman claims AGI by year-end; skeptic calls it IPO marketing as "AGI loses meaning"
koltregaskes · x · 2026-08-28
Sam Altman told TIME that OpenAI will achieve AGI by the end of this year, adding that the promised automated research intern is up and running under the name Astra.
Skeptic @koltregaskes pushed back: unless hallucinations and accuracy are miraculously solved, AGI won't arrive internally or externally by year-end. In their view, "AGI" lost its meaning a while back, and the claim is mostly marketing ahead of OpenAI's IPO.
