Dev reverse-engineers Apple Notes API to build ultimate CLI tool
rudrank · x · 2026-08-28
Developer Federico Viticci released NotesCTL, a CLI tool built by reverse-engineering Apple Notes' private protocol. It supports creating notes with all elements including rich text, tags, attachments, tables, audio recordings, and PencilKit drawings—making it ideal for agents to assemble research reports or convert SVGs into editable Apple Pencil drawings. The tool also supports searching, editing, Smart Folders, and template-based Markdown export, avoiding simple AppleScript wrappers.
