Beyond coding agents: three unconventional architectures worth building
Redcxx · reddit · 2026-08-28
The author asks why almost all agents we see are coding agents when tools can have arbitrary inputs and outputs, and proposes three directions:
- Tools could run natively in the browser instead of an agent controlling it from outside;
- Agents could run in the cloud and control a fleet of machines rather than one local computer;
- Agents could skip computers entirely and work directly with hardware, Bluetooth, or cables.
