28MB Gaussian splat of Stonehenge lets you walk inside the stones in a browser

willeastcott · x · 2026-08-28

PlayCanvas founder Will Eastcott built a 3D Gaussian splat of Stonehenge with SuperSplat. At just 28MB, it opens directly in a browser tab, or you can step inside the normally off-limits stone circle via a WebXR headset. Rendering runs on WebGPU via the PlayCanvas engine, showing how lightweight 3DGS can deliver immersive web experiences.
