Pause cloud GPUs, resume later without losing ComfyUI setup
deployonaquanode · reddit · 2026-08-28
This post introduces a method using Aquanode to pause and resume hourly cloud GPUs (like RunPod, Vast.ai) to save costs during idle time. The process involves snapshotting the instance and releasing the machine, then restoring the snapshot to a new instance later. It supports resuming on different providers or GPU models (e.g., pause on 4090, resume on A6000) and includes an auto-pause feature. Note that the Python venv is rebuilt on resume to match the new box's driver.
