AlphaChip layouts taped out in five TPU generations, Axion CPUs and Waymo chips

Anna Goldie notes that since AlphaChip's Nature publication, its superhuman chip layouts have been taped out across five generations of Google TPUs, Axion CPUs, Pixel phones, and Waymo chips.
To her knowledge it is the first RL method with significant real-world impact. Many once questioned why they'd even work on chip design — now that AI is eating the world, no one thinks chips are boring anymore.
