LlamaParse Adds Native Spreadsheet Extraction That Reads Cells, Not Flattened Text

llama_index · x · 2026-08-28

LlamaIndex has shipped native spreadsheet extraction in the LlamaParse platform. Most tools treat spreadsheets like PDFs — flattening them into text or markdown and asking a model to infer structure — but headers, formulas, merged cells, and hidden rows give every value its context, and losing that leads to mapping numbers to the wrong metric or period.

The new capability reads raw cells directly and maps data to your schema. Available today on the agenticplus tier for .xlsx, .xls, and .csv files.
