Per The Information (unconfirmed by either company), Nvidia has agreed to buy Hugging Face for about $12.9 billion — nearly double the $7B offer HF rejected less than a year ago.
Key points:
- HF's value is distribution, not silicon: it's the default hub where OpenAI, Google, Amazon and Anthropic publish and download open models — and all four are building custom chips to cut Nvidia dependence
