Thom_Wolf · x · 2026-08-27

Hugging Face co-founder Thomas Wolf announced Microduck: a 25 cm open-source bipedal robot with 15 actuators and a sensor suite (camera, speaker, LiDAR, NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi), trainable with reinforcement learning by the user.

It plays out of the box with half a dozen pre-trained policies — walking, sitting, crouching, roller-skating, picking up objects with its articulated beak, and self-recovery after falls. Price is under $400; details, a simulator and orders are on the official site.
