Meta internal data: AI code changes up 220%, major incidents up 40%

Per internal Meta data obtained by Reuters, after Zuckerberg cut 8,000 workers and moved 7,000 into AI roles, AI-generated code changes jumped 220%, but new features reaching users rose only 36%. Major incidents spiked 40%, firefighting time rose 70%, and employee sentiment fell from 74% to 55% favorable. Hours before the first layoff round, Zuckerberg quietly cancelled a second round planned for November.
The poster adds that many CEOs used Meta's AI layoffs as cover to do the same; now that the data shows the swap didn't work, most are likely seeing similar results and hoping theirs doesn't leak. Zuckerberg published a 6,500-word essay on AI abundance while his own engineers described the opposite.
