ComfyUI Workflow Diary: Creating a Retro Anime Short and Tackling Audio Sync Challenges
Portable_Solar_ZA · reddit · 2026-08-27
The author shares the production workflow for an early version (V0.8) of a retro anime-style short film titled 'Crime Busters,' created using ComfyUI. The project currently utilizes approximately 15 shots/workflows to generate video and audio effects. Visually, generation relies mostly on prompting and fine-tuning, with specific framing requiring manual sketches to guide the model. Audio production has been challenging; while using processed voice samples in Audacity as a reference for the narrator worked well, syncing audio for action-heavy scenes remains difficult. The author plans to address this using the Minimax Guide timing node and recent ComfyUI updates. Remaining tasks include refining the style prompt for consistent retro aesthetics, standardizing fonts, generating consistent background music from reference clips, and final editing in Kdenlive.
