X officially gives AI agents their own handles, permissions, and full lifecycle APIs
XFreeze · x · 2026-08-27
X is officially building native identity for agents: each bot gets its own @handle, display name, and user ID, but no password and no normal login — it acts solely via an API bearer token.
Transparent ownership: every bot carries an "Automated by @owner" label pointing back to the X account that owns the developer app.
Full lifecycle via API: create bots, list all bots in a project, change handle/display name, control DM access (everyone / Premium / nobody), rotate tokens, revoke access instantly, or delete permanently — all manageable through the API. The bot token can also read DMs and more.
