AGI May Not Be Where Money Is Made: Specialization Over General Intelligence

Phin Barnes, cofounder and managing partner at The General Partner, argues in a new thesis that while AGI is a massive technological shift, it may not be the primary profit driver. He predicts AI will fragment into thousands of "not really AGI" systems that are good at general reasoning but exceptional at specific jobs. This specialization, rather than general intelligence, is where most of AI's economic value will be captured.
