TechCrunch reports that researchers found nearly half of the workers on Amazon Mechanical Turk are using AI to perform tasks originally intended for humans. Dubbed "artificial artificial intelligence" by Jeff Bezos, the platform was designed for tasks like sentiment analysis that AI historically struggled with. With recent AI advancements, these tasks are now automatable, potentially polluting datasets meant to be human-verified and creating an ironic loop.
