Users Less Likely to Critique AI in High-Stakes Tasks

Contrary to prior beliefs, users delegate consequential tasks to AI at high rates. As stakes rise, users are less likely to critique AI outputs and more likely to simply try to understand them. Capability alone is insufficient for strong human-AI synergy.
