Study maps pan-viral microproteins, reveals oncogenic EBV gene
SeyoneC · x · 2026-08-27
Researchers from JswLab released a preprint mapping a pan-viral atlas of microproteins from human-infecting viruses. The study characterized the function of thousands of viral microproteins and uncovered the oncogenic activity of BNLF2b, an EBV gene linked to cancer. It sheds light on the unknown functions of small viral ORFs.
