Amazon forced to renewables after building 40 data centers

A report reveals that Amazon's recent construction of one of the largest solar and storage projects in America (1.2 GW / 7.2 GWh) was driven by necessity. Between 2013 and 2024, Amazon built 40 data centers in Eastern Oregon with 3.3 GW capacity, overwhelming the local utility infrastructure which was never built to serve such demand.
