Foresight CEO: Open Science Needs Independent Secure Compute Clusters
allisondman · x · 2026-08-26
Foresight Institute CEO Allison Duettmann argues that compute is the defining instrument of our era, yet five companies hold an estimated 71% of the world's AI compute, dwarfing public research resources.
She proposes using impending AI windfalls to fund independent, secure compute clusters dedicated to open AI safety and science. Foresight has launched AI Nodes in Berlin and San Francisco as prototypes to provide on-site compute and funding for independent research.
