LpWM Research: Sparse Representations Make Latent Dynamics Easier to Model

randall_balestr · x · 2026-08-26

Randall Balestra shared new research LpWM by Kuang Yilun et al. The study proposes that Sparse Representations, as opposed to dense Gaussian representations, can make latent dynamics easier to model within world models, aiding in planning. Analogous to the relationship between LpJEPA and LeJEPA, LpWM seeks the best latent distribution for objectives like SIGReg. While sparsity continues to prove its worth, core questions remain open.
