CodeRabbit pledges over $10M in free code reviews for open source projects

AI code review company CodeRabbit has committed more than $10 million over the next year to open source, counted at its own cost, providing free code reviews. Projects already using it include langflow, bun, ant-design, nuxt, vue, mermaid, pnpm and tRPC — over 600,000 GitHub stars combined.

The backdrop: AI has collapsed the cost of producing code contributions, shifting the bottleneck from writing code to judging it, and open source maintainers bear the brunt. GitHub has called the flood of AI-generated PRs open source's "Eternal September" and now lets maintainers limit incoming PRs. The curl project ended its bug bounty after a wave of low-quality reports — in 2025 its confirmed-vulnerability rate fell below 5%, fewer than 1 in 20 submissions being real.
