tom_doerr · x · 2026-08-26
OpenBrief is a Tauri v2 desktop app that turns videos and audio into clear, listenable briefings. Key features include:
- Import anything — paste video links or import local audio/video files
- Transcribe locally — extract captions or run on-device speech-to-text
- Grounded summaries — generate blog-style markdown briefs with timestamped takeaways
- Chat with media — ask questions against the summary or full transcript
- Private & Open Source — runs entirely on your machine
Built as a pnpm/Turborepo workspace, it allows building a searchable library from media links or files and exporting reusable notes.
