Bill Gates now says AI will cause mass unemployment and economic catastrophe

Martin Ford (author of Rise of the Robots, plugging the new edition) relays that Bill Gates has changed his mind: AI will lead to mass unemployment. Gates expects an "economic catastrophe" with "far fewer" jobs than today, citing AI's rapid progress and what he calls a non-existent response from government and tech leaders (per Semafor).
